Goodbye 2023: Some Of My Best Astrophotos Of The Year

2023 was an overwhelming year for me, as well as exhausting (with my board exams coming up). However, one of the best thing about this year was that I got my new telescope in June!

It is an Astronomers Without Borders Onesky Reflector Telescope, and to be honest, it was so much better than my expectations. The only black spot was its price tag.

At $250, it’s not the cheapest thing out there, but I think that it is completely worth it. I would advise you to buy a phone adapter to go with it if you want to take good pictures, but it works alone too.

Without any further ado, let me show you some of my best pictures-

1. The Moon

The Moon is a popular thing to photograph in the sky, and I also took a few pics. This is one of my pictures where I have edited the image slightly. This is my best image of the moon.

Here’s another pic of the Moon I’m proud of (without any filters)-

What do you think of them? Drop a response!

2. Meet the Pleiades

The Pleaides is an open cluster that is more commonly called ‘The Seven Sisters’. This cluster is loosely bound by gravity and contains over 1,000 stars. The 5 brightest ones are visible to the naked eye in moderately dark skies.

Here’s a picture of the Pleiades through my telescope-

The Pleiades cluster.

3. Now for Saturn

Saturn, with its beautiful rings, is another astrophotography target. Here is my best image of this gas giant (unedited)-

Now, this image might seem a bit fuzzy, but remember, I took it with my free hand, without using any phone adapter (because I didn’t have one)!

4. One Orion Nebula Coming Up

The Orion Nebula is the brightest nebula in the night sky and is visible to the naked eye too, as a star like body.

Here’s my image showing its faint nebulosity-

The nebula is not clearly visible due to excess of light pollution near my home and the full moon.

So, here you go! These are my best astrophotos of the year.

Please inform me what you think of them by leaving a response! I will be sure to read it.

Happy New Year’s Eve,

Aarav Iyer
